Vintage cakes in Pristina

The vintage look comes from freehand piping: shell borders worked around every edge, ruffles, garlands and hand-written messages, finished with satin bows, cherries or sugar jewels. Because nothing is stamped or moulded, no two of these cakes come out identical, even in the same colour.

Most of ours are heart-shaped, in burgundy, red, black, pink, cream and white, and they suit birthdays, anniversaries and any day when the cake itself is the gift. The same piping works on round birthday cakes, small vintage minis and a Lambeth-style wedding cake.

Piped by hand

Every shell, ruffle and scroll is piped freehand. The slight irregularity of hand piping is what gives these cakes their old-fashioned rhythm.

Colour does the work

Burgundy and black read dramatic and are taken to full depth so they stay true under party lights; cream and white read soft and carry satin bows and lettering well.

A message on top

A name or a short message can be piped on, in Albanian or English, which is useful when the cake is a surprise.

Questions about vintage cakes

What is a vintage or Lambeth cake?

A cake decorated with layered freehand piping, shells, ruffles, garlands and scrolls, in the over-piped style named after the baker Joseph Lambeth. We pipe every border by hand.

How far ahead should I order a vintage cake?

About a week for a birthday or heart cake. For a vintage wedding cake, book two to three weeks ahead.

How many people does a heart cake serve?

Heart cakes are a small format, made for a table of family or friends rather than a hall. For more guests the same piping works on a larger round or tiered cake; a single 20 cm tier serves about 24.

Can you write a message on it?

Yes. Names and short messages are piped on by hand, like 'happy birthday my love' on the red heart.
